Plea of mitigation in response to speeding summons (Scotland)
This letter can be used by a person who has received a summons to appear before a Justice of the Peace Court to answer a speeding charge. The letter informs the court that the person wishes to plead guilty by post to avoid having to attend at court on the date indicated in the summons. It also gives details of mitigating circumstances applicable to both the offence and the person, in order to seek to persuade the court to impose a more lenient sentence. Please note that this document can only be used in Scotland.
